Belinda and Matt’s wedding at the Riverside Center in Durban North

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

The past month has been really crazy in Jacki land …. I have been in Cape Town, Joburg, the Midlands, the Drakensberg and the South Coast and with all of that i just didn’t get around to doing a post for the lovely Belinda and Matt. Belinda and Matt are both stock brokers and spoke at length of how stressful their job is especially in recent times. Their wedding was anything but stressful! They both seemed to just slip into the day and really enjoy it. I so love shooting weddings which are true celebrations of love and this wedding was definitely one of those. Congrats guys and thanks for all.

Sneaky peaks of Mel and Mike’s wedding day

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Yesterdays wedding was just fun fun fun!!! Mel and Mike were such a great couple to work with that I was reminded of how privileged I am to do a job where I get to meet so many lovely folk. I have been super lucky this year as all my wedding couples have been awesome! (and my portrait people too … in case one of you are reading this and feel left out!)

Feeling stiff and soar today … I am the type of photographer who is climbing trees, lying on my tummy and squatting up and down to get those funky angles, and after 12 hours of that my body feels it the next day …. I don’t really care today though as it was really worth it. Mel and Mike … thanks for making my job such an awesome one!

Plan A Photography Profile on moi!

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

I am so often checking out international blogs whether they be photographers blogs or general wedding blogs. So it was a great pleasure to find someone in Durbs who has a wedding blog showcasing what is going on in Durbs and what is hip and happening on the wedding front. Amanda, who is the brains behind the blog is also a wedding planner and events co ordinator. Check out http://planaeventing.com/2010/08/18/photographer-profile-jacki-bruniquel/ to see the profile she did on me. Thanks very much Amanda for everything, I really  look forward to working with you in the future!

My favorite wedding couple of the year. The Bradleys

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Do you have any of those days in your memory which you wish you could repeat, or even better repeat in slow motion? Well Lisa and Ty’s wedding is one of those days for me.

Lisa is my very very dear wonderful sister and one of my best friends in the whole world. She has been there for me through thick and thin, the good the bad and the ugly and i am one lucky girl to be blessed with such amazing family. Her now husband Tyrone is one hell of a good choice in my opinion as he is a damn fine photographer and a surfer!!! Ha ha. Seriously though, Ty is the most amazing man … and the most amazing man for Lis as he makes her more happy than i have ever seen her. Lisa is just Lisa with Ty …. he loves her for all that she is and she loves him for all that he is!

Lis and Ty got married down in Umzumbe at Honeywood. I was both bridesmaid and photographer which is something i really wouldn’t recommend to anyone! They did however have another 2 photographers on board who shot the service and reception part of the day, that’s why there are a few gaps in this post. Big shout out to Craig Scott and Germ, you are both so talented, thanks for everything!!!! (ps you both need to get a website so the world can see how clever you are!)

Lisa and Ty’s engagement shoot

Monday, August 9th, 2010

It’s been a very long while since i did this shoot ……I hate to admit it, but Lis and Ty have now actually been  married for 3 months!!! You see, Lisa, is my very dear sister and unfortunately family pics tend to go to the bottom of a very large pile of editing that i always seem to have for paying customers.

This shoot was loads of fun and its such a pleasure to make pictures for the people you love. Lisa chose a very special husband who has fitted into the family so well and who i now love like a brother. Lis, Ty, Stu and myself all live together so he has had to get used to two very headstrong Bruniquel girls even though he never grew up with a sister or a Bruniquel for that matter! We based this shoot on the things they enjoy and all of it was photographed in Umdloti where we live. Ty is a brilliant photographer, check out his website www.tyronebradley.co.za Not too long now till i post pics of their truly amazing quirky south coast wedding!

A week of babies!

Friday, August 6th, 2010

I have photographed 3 little babas this week and either the universe is trying to get me broody or scare the hell out of me! Don’t get me wrong i love kids …. other peoples though. The thought of having my own terrifies me way more than a shark attack! There is however a huge honor in being the person who gets to capture those early days for new parents as let’s face it, kids grow so incredibly fast. My approach with newborn photography is go to the new parents home and spend time with them so that there is no stress involved.  Here are a few sneaky peaks of my recent newborns.

My special folk – The Russell Daniels’

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Peter and i have been friends for ever and ever, I am based in Durbs and he is down in Cape Town, and so we have gone through all sorts of modes of communication over the years … it started with good ol snail mail letter writing (yes i am that old!!! ha ha), nowadays its facebook and cellphones but we still make the effort to see each other as often as possible! When he first got together with Nicole many moons ago I was so pleased as I felt like i had known her my whole life!!! We have all seen each other through so many different milestones … and its been amazing for me to meet and fall in love with their first little princess Ajua Luna and now their second Zara. Wow they make beautiful babies!!! Peter is a fantastic photographer who’s work i have always admired. Check out his website www.peterrussell.co.za
