Lis and Ty’s Windy Wedding posted on Rockn’Roll Bride

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

The other morning we woke up to the nasty fact that Ty’s car had been stolen from our property. My car had a been stolen a couple of months before (although not from our place) and on the same morning the police called to say that they had found it somewhere near Kwa Kwa. It wasn’t a great morning until I opened my email and found Kat’s mail to say that she loved Lisa and Ty’s wedding and would be blogging it very soon. I was just about doing cartwheels as Rockn’Roll Bride is one of the international and widely acclaimed blog sites that inspired me to do more wedding photography and to do things my way! Thanks so much to Kat for featuring this very special day! Click on the link to go have a peak http://www.rocknrollbride.com/2010/09/lisa-tyrones-windy-wedding/

Yellow socks and nail varnish! Mel and Mike’s most fun day at Cranford Country Lodge in the Midlands

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

As a photographer i have to admit that some weddings are just more enjoyable to shoot than others. Mike and Mel’s was one of the most enjoyable weddings i have photographed this year and I have been trying to work out just why.

On the other side of the lens …. Portrait of me by Taetim De Villiers

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

I used to lecture Taetim last year at DUT where she is currently studying photography. She was most definitely one of my most enthusiastic and hard working students and has now gone on to do her BTech in photography. Her specialist for the year is portraiture so she roped me into posing for her final year portfolio this morning. Her concept was to have me submerged and engulfed in all the things which consume my life. Welldone Tae, I am pretty sure you are going to go very far in your career!

In bed with my clients! Tarryn and Jacques’ Engagement shoot

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Tarryn and Jacques are getting married in December this year and chose me to be their photographer because of my specific style. I love it when that happens! When i suggested jumping into bed with them for their engagement shoot they didn’t blink an eyelid as they trust my vision!

I really wanted to create a feeling of intimacy and closeness in these pics.

Thanks for a great day guys and for running with my crazy ideas!

Anja and Kuben’s big day in full at the Collisheen in Ballito

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

When I think back to Anja and Kuben’s wedding day I think of  her little daughter, Cam shouting at the minister for pronouncing Kuben’s name wrong. Its KA BEN NOT CUBAN she said in the middle of the service !!! It was too funny!

What i really loved about this little family is how Kuben has totally taken on the role of Dad.  Kuben and Anja had a ball on their big day …. they really seemed to embrace every minute and have loads of fun. Even though i was feeling rather wiped out as i had been shooting for 13 hours the day before I so enjoyed photographing this wedding. There was such a relaxed happy vibe which was infectious and better than any red bull I could drink (hold on i think i may have glugged a few of those too!!)

A quick peak at Yvette and Geoff’s most fun day at Cathedral Peak hotel in the Drakensberg

Friday, September 10th, 2010

I realised today that Yvette and Geoff must be back from honeymoon now so I thought I would give them a little surprise to uplift the post honeymoon blues! They went to the Masia Mara in Kenya to catch the end of the migration. Wow … that is something I have always wanted to see. I look forward to hearing your stories guys. Thanks for such a wonderful weekend. I loved your wedding!

Jacki Bruniquel’s Uber Talent (blush) Article on me in The Bugle newspaper

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

A while back i sent an email out to everyone in my address book to announce the launch of my new website and quite soon afterward Kasia from our local newspaper the Bugle contacted me to ask if she could do an article on me. We had lovely afternoon of tea and chats on our sunny porch. Kasia is one of those lovely souls who arrived as a journalist and left as a friend! My wonderful brother in law Tyrone Bradley got roped into doing a portrait of me for the article as Kasia and I were so busy talking that she had to rush off before taking a pic of me. Kasia also included one of my pics of Tyrone and Lisa’s wedding so there is a pic of me by him and a pic of him by me in the article!!!

The Petrelis Jouberts’ family shoot in Joburg

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

I was up in Jozi a few weeks ago to attend the Nikon Africa Photographic Awards (which i got a bronze for in the family portrait category) and also to visit and photograph the family of my very good friends Marie’ and Danie who have recently moved up there. Marie’ and I met way back in our first year of University when we were both living in the hideous “tampax towers” residence of UCT. We have both lived all over the place but somehow our lives always seem to come together again, even if it is just for visits these days.

Their little sprogs Noah and Issy, or Isla Mae are super duper cute but dam can they make a noise!!!!! Or is that just all children?
