Top Tots!!!!

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

Silly Season is upon us and I have loads of kiddy shoots in my diary these days. These little guys were great fun! I just loved the Alvin the Chipmunk glasses (apparently he wore them every day for their week long Cape Town holiday!). Big thanks to the Smith family and especially to Natalie. This is my second shoot with the Smiths …….. its always so great to have regular customers as I get to catch up again and see how the kidlets have grown.

A beach wedding with a floaty dress – Alexa and Paul’s big day at Palm Dunes, Blythedale Beach

Thursday, November 25th, 2010

Alexa and Paul got married at  Palm Dunes in Blythedale Beach on the North Coast of Natal. They were most certainly one of my most relaxed couples of 2010 as so much went wrong on their wedding day and they just smiled through it all! And what beautiful smiles they do have! The weather was pretty ghastly to say the least and their dream “beach wedding” had to be moved indoors. What i loved about Alexa is that she didn’t throw a tantrum or burst into tears she just threw her arms up and enjoyed. Alexa’s beautiful dress made by Suzaan Heyns Couture really suited the windy rainy day and the colours of the wedding all worked so well with the grey clouds. The weather did clear up to a drizzle for a few moments and we rushed out to take their pics on the beach which they so wanted.

An outdoorsy couple shoot … meet Nel and Jos

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Nel and Jos live in the same little town of Umdloti as I do. Even though we have all been living here for years, we only met for the first time when they called me after seeing an article written about me in the local paper! That is certainly strange as Umdloti is rather small. Nel and Jos decided to get hold of me to do a couples shoot for them as their wedding pics were photographed in the middle of the day so the light was awful.

We had a great meeting one evening on their fabulous balcony overlooking the sea whilst getting to know each other over gin and tonics! They are a very outdoorsy couple who love spending their time together in mother nature so they took me to this marvelous landscape in the middle of the sugarcane where they often mountain bike. We certainly got great light during this shoot!!!

Nel and Jos thanks for a great time and looking forward to another g&t with you guys!

Cute kiddy shoot at my secret spot in Umdloti

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Silly season is definitely upon me and I have lots of Mommies madly booking family photoshoots for Christmas prezzies. My monthly planner is so full right now that I can hardly read anything as its so crammed! Kiddy photography can be hard work but its very rewarding when you get the shot, I think the trick is to have an activity for them to do … in this shoot we went to the beach, climbed trees, blew bubbles and picked wild flowers. All the things kiddies should be doing!!!!

A Californian girl marries a South African Boy. Love in a photo. Part 2

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

I have already featured Part One of this DIY red and purple vintage, crafty wedding DIY explosion of creativity and loveliness. But just in case you didn’t see it. Please click on this link to fill yourself in on how truly amazing this wedding was. http://jackibruniquel.com/blog/2010/11/05/a-californian-girl-marries-a-south-african-boy-a-diy-wedding-extravaganza-part-one In the first half we spoke of all the details (and goodness me there are so so so many details in this wedding) but in this half … its all about the actual saying I DO, the emotions of the I DO, the amazing landscape where they got married, their creative shoot and the fun of the reception. More then that there is the story of Bo’s Dad and how he nearly didn’t make it!

And I am off to the beach for a walk and a swim and am definitely going to take most of the day off otherwise Mommy is going to give me hell! Enjoy guys and thanks for everything. You were all FABULOUS.!

A Californian girl marries a South African boy. A DIY wedding extravaganza. Part One

Friday, November 5th, 2010

I knew straight after my first meeting with Bo and Ryan that not only would their wedding be amazing but also, that I was about to make 2 new dear friends! I was so excited about this wedding that I actually shot 36 GIGS worth of photos over 16 hours!! Now Bo being Bo has an ability to infuse all of those around her with a positive excitement and I was more than happy to be swept away with that. We chatted back and forth over the months of planning, we did an engagement shoot together, we counted down the days together …. Bo went to town on this wedding .. it was a DIY crafty explosion of quirky loveliness. More than that … it was a day bursting at the seams with love and joy. I took so many pics at this wedding that i decided to do 2 blog posts of the big day. Oh and before i hand over to Bo to explain about all the bits and pieces i should mention that pretty young Bo is Californian and her handsome young hubby is from South Africa and they have traveled all over the world together. People from all over the globe came to celebrate their big day and man were there alot of Americans about! They got married at the Clearwater Trail Centre and had their reception at The Estuary Hotel down in Port Edward on the South Coast of Natal.

Why I like to shoot weddings … some more sneak peaks of Bo’s wedding

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

I recently had a client who asked me to describe my style to her. Now that one really stumped me … I communicate far better in pictures than in words. Descriptive words came to mind like …. creative, quirky, arty, narrative, documentary, an ability to tell stories visually blah blah And then I thought of why i liked shooting weddings … and besides a whole load of things that i wont bore you with here … these pics from Bo’s wedding which i will be blogging very soon came to mind. There is something timeless about capturing raw and real emotion at a wedding. Click on the blue bit to see them all and keep your eyes on my blog, the rest of the wedding will be up soon soon!
