Babylonastoren Wedding – Amelie + Chris

Amelie is one of my favourite movies of all time, so when I received an email request to photograph the wedding of Amelie at one of the most incredible wedding venues in South Africa I was rather excited. Amelie is not unlike the quirky character of the iconic french film, she is also small, animated and unconventional with big brown eyes and a mop of shiny brown hair.

Babylonstoren suited their breezy laid back celebrations perfectly. They said their vows under the shade of an enormous old tree with spectacular views of rolling vineyards and later, when all the hugs and photos were done, the festivities continued as guests were treated to a sumptuous feast served at long candlelit tables.

Amelie and Chris thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your big day. It was always a dream to shoot a wedding at Babylonstoren and you made that come true for me! Wishing you all the best for your new adventure as husband and wife and Mom and Dad!!!

And now for a few words from the bride and groom

The venue was truly spectacular, with awesome natural beauty all around and a real rustic feel. We were so happy with each supplier and team who contributed to the day and are looking forward to seeing all the moments captured!
It was great to be surrounded by warmth and support from close friends and family. Even though it was a relatively small wedding of 70 people, the afternoon and evening was a pleasant blur of conversations, laughter, sharing of memories, old stories, the future and well wishes- a reminder and confirmation of the presence of special people in our lives and how blessed we are to have that.
The crowd was a real mix of characters from family to friends all seated at one long table – this was very special to experience for the first time.
As the pulse of the evening accelerated, all was over before we could process it all – so many people to talk to and share the experience with.  We look forward to the pictures and videos, capturing many moments we could not witness, and reflecting on the entire experience.
Advice to all couples getting married out there- don’t sweat the small stuff, let it all happen naturally and just be in and enjoy all the moment(s)- it goes by so fast!

Jacki- thanks to you and Elizabeth for all the hard work and dedication.
