Corrie Lynn Farm Wedding – Ashleigh + Simon

When the time came for Ashleigh and Simon to meet their significant other, they did what most people above the age of thirty do and joined an online dating site! After chatting on the internet for a while they made a coffee date and that coffee turned out to be the best cup they have ever had! Since that fateful day they have merged their lives and families and have been there for each other through thick and thin. Ash and Simon both have kids from previous marriages so its a full house when everyone gets together, but that’s the way they love it!

They wanted their wedding to be an intimate, casual celebration with a focus on family and fun and chose the beautiful Corrie Lynn farm in the KZN midlands to get married. Unfortunately just a few months before they were to say their I do’s Ashleigh fell very ill and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. This didn’t stop their plans and Ash being the trooper that she is rode through the pain and walked down the aisle with her face beaming. The only person who had a bigger smile that day was Simon!

Ash and Simon thank you so much for picking me to capture these precious memories for you. I so enjoyed working with both of you and your families and hope these images will take you back to the way that you felt on that wonderful day whenever you look at them!

And now for the credits and a few words from the groom …..

Ash was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in January this year and so planing a laid back wedding with minimal ‘pomp and ceremony’ became more and more important as we got closer to the day. This was done to avoid stress, pain and fatigue as far as possible. We could not have foreseen that this horrid disease would attack Ash like it did and so it was quite lucky that Ash and I had decided early on that we wanted a laid back, country themed, farm styled wedding. We started planning in August ‘17 and neither one of us wanted a stuffy ‘formal’ event with suits and ties. The emphasis throughout the planning was how do we make this a fun and relaxed day for our guests, our 5 children and most importantly Ashleigh and I. I think our dress code to the guests as ‘casually smart’ and not the more formal ‘smart casual’ kind of sums this up? We wanted to enjoy the day with ours friends and family and to avoid formality as far as possible. Everyone enjoyed themselves so I think we achieved that.

We also decided very early on that preserving the memory of the day was very important to us because all the eating, drinking and merriment of the day would sadly fade from memory over time. We were unsure about how to set about choosing a photographer, one that would be able to capture a memory, a living moment.

We saw one of your shots on a wall at Corrie Lynn Farm and we immediately knew that you had exactly what we were looking for in a photographer. Once we looked at your portfolio your passion for colour, light and the way you managed to keep the energy of movement alive in ‘action’ shots and the emotions of love and honesty in your portraits was profound. We were both so happy that we found you.

All our love and thanks for making our day so memorable.

Si and Ash.
