Oyster Box Destination Wedding in the Presidential Suite – Emma + Cher

Emma and Cher have been together for twenty one years and engaged for nineteen of those years. In that time they have lived in London, South Africa and now Sydney. They have been there for each other through thick and thin and many highs and lows. It’s plain as day to me that even after all these years their feelings for each other still burn brightly and there was a sense joy and emotion at their wedding that gave me goosies and had my eyes tearing up behind the camera! This is a special love. A love that existed long before gay marriage was even possible.

Because their families are scattered across the globe they decided to get married in South Africa where Cher grew up. They chose Durban’s famous Oyster Box Hotel as their venue and said their vows on the verandah of the Presidential suite. The ceremony was followed by some portraits around the beautifully decorated hotel and then a decadent dinner party in the opulent and very private presidential suite. The guest list included just Cher’s immediate family which meant it was a family reunion and not just a wedding celebration. This made for an intimate gathering of sharing and connection which included some of the most deeply moving speeches I have heard in a while.

This was a very special wedding for me! Thank you so very much E + C for choosing me to record these dear memories for you! I loved working with you ladies!!!

And now for a few words from the brides …..

We held our wedding in the Presidential Suite at the stunning Oyster Box in Durban, South Africa. This was all planned from our home base in Sydney and thanks to the awesome Ginny Eslick, the organisation of our entire wedding was nothing short of meticulous and all was executed down to a tee! Thank you Ginny for your guidance, patience and most of all, your amazing ability to keep things moving and executing the well laid out plans!!!

The same must be said for Sue Baxter whose flowers and décor were stunning, the flower arch was exactly what we asked for, as were our bouquets, just beautiful, again all organised from overseas!

Our hair & makeup… Charelle McAllister, what can we say… there were no pre wedding trials, we had not spoken about what hairstyle or makeup, she worked with us on the day and was just so fantastic to spend the morning with, she is calm, thoughtful and incredibly talented – Both Cher & I were extremely happy with both our hair and makeup!!!

Jacki Bruniquel, “our” photographer, that’s how she made us feel, she and her team were INCREDIBLE! Jacki was able to spend some time with us prior to our special day to work out which photos we were wanting and she executed those and many more I suspect – can’t wait to see the finished products but the snapshots so far look amazing!! Thank you Jacki for really working with us, it’s just so appreciated!

Fiona Briggs, our marriage celebrant presented with a beautifully composed ceremony, what she said resonated with us both very well and we did listen Fiona, there were sentiments you mentioned that we think of daily… thank you.

Jackie in the Spa and her team, again fantastic, she deserves special mention as we were in and out of the spa during our few days at the OBH and Jackie looked after us beautifully!

Thank you all for making us feel so welcome, ensuring all ran seamlessly before, during and after our special day!! 😊
