I met Carolyn a good few years ago when she was still working as the venue co- coordinator for Netherwood. The first thing that struck me about Carolyn was her radiant warmth and so my assistant and I nicknamed her Sunshine and we became firm friends.
Since then I have seen her grow into a dynamic businesswomen who runs her own wedding planning, décor and flower business. I have also seen her fall in love, but mostly I have seen her shine. Carolyn is a gem of a lady and her Chris is a very lucky man to have nabbed her. I must however mention that Chris brings out the best in Carolyn. I have watched this grounded, solid man support my friend through thick and thin and I am sure that anyone who is close to her will agree that she smiles even more since this man walked into her life.
Their wedding was held at Netherwood in the Natal Midlands, a place which Carolyn and Chris both hold dear. They got married at the Michaelhouse chapel in the morning and the day unfolded into drinks and a picnic feast on the lawn. This was then followed by a sumptuous sit down lunch and speeches in amongst the most incredible décor, which can only be likened to something out of a midsummer nights dream! After a very quick portrait shoot in the howling wind the dance-floor was opened and guest partied until midnight. Being in the wedding industry, my friend Carolyn knows just how quickly a wedding day can fly, and so she cleverly planned a day that would move slowly. I loved watching them grabbing hold of every minute and loving every second of their special day.
Carolyn and Chris thank you so much for picking me to be your photographer. I love you more than words can say.
And now for the credits and a few words from the bride
But first thanks to my assistant Liz for working so hard and to Derryn Semple for the last pic of Ca and I.
Over to Carolyn ……
Chris and I had the happiest, most love filled, heart felt and beautiful day ever. We absolutely loved our wedding and sincerely wish with our whole hearts that every single couple in the world gets to experience a day like we did. It was just the most amazing day! From the beginning our hope was that our wedding would be a day where we could share the most beautiful promise we made to one another and God in front of all our most favourite people, that it would be a day full of love, full of happiness, full of good food and good wine and lots of flowers. We have been so blessed! That is exactly what our day turned out to be. We are so grateful to all our family and friends who were able to be a part of it and share the magic with us.
Being a part of this special wedding industry meant that we were very privileged when it came to our suppliers. There are the most generous-hearted humans in this industry who participate in making people’s special days come to life on a weekly basis, and it is an absolute honour to get to work alongside you to make that happen. The way each of you blessed us with your generosity and talents on our own day is awe inspiring! Not once did I even think about worrying about a thing because I knew that we were in the best hands. Thank you, each and every one of you, for your passion for what you do and for making this planner’s day completely stress free. Greatest love to you all.
Venue: the one and only Netherwood! www.netherwood.co.za I know I’m biased because I have such a special history with this venue, but I honestly do just love this place! A sincere thank you to Rob and Annelie Kleinloog, and the the entire Netherwood team for basically welcoming me “back home” and letting us have free reign of the space. There is no where else we could ever have celebrated our special day. Deepest love for you all x
Wedding planner: Me www.adoreweddings.co.za
Decor: Adore Weddings again
Flowers: The Adore Weddings team assisted by the most amazing Mom’s of the Eston and Mooi River communities. Growing up in a farm community is an absolute privilege, one that Chris and I have each been blessed with. Without the help of both my Adore team and all these incredible “other Mom’s” Chris and I share, the flowers for our day would not have happened. With sincerest thanks to each and every one of you for making our wildly foraged, enchanted forest wedding come to life! Another very special thank you to Chris and both our special Dad’s – Mike and Gavin, for the “civic pruning” they did in the gardens of friends and family to source the enormous tree branches we used everywhere. These are three very special men and I’m beyond blessed to have them in my life.

Lindsay, Lau and Wadene, I just love you guys! These amazing women had to do hair and make up for eight women, and we all had to be ready by 10 am. They were up at the crack of dawn to be with us in time to work their magic. My gratitude for your kindness, professionalism and talents knows no bounds! Lau and Wadene had us in stitched all morning while they worked their magic, you are the best. Lindsay, you are a genius with a brush, thank you for making us look and feel so pretty! Thank you Sean! Thank you too for keeping us dancing until the wee hours of the morning. We had a blast and my feet were sore for the next two days after our wedding. The true sign of a great party!
Videographer: Wes and Stace from The Shank Tank www.theshanktank.co.za – love these two! They are the merriest delights to work with. Having you capture our day was easy guys! Thank you for sharing in our celebration, and for being such a delight to spend time with.

And then there is you my Jax. My friend, mentor, fellow wine drinker, sometimes festive yoga instructor and colleague. Beloved Jax you have been such a great blessing in my life. It is because of you that I even figured out I could play with flowers for weddings. I am so grateful for all the love, support, joy and advice through good times and bad. I still remember the first time you met Chris, you gave him your penetrating stare, asked a couple of questions and quietly said to me that when I marry him you’re doing the photos. That was many a year ago my friend! It mean the world to us that you could be such a precious, integral part of our day. Love you to the moon and back!
Thank you too to Lizzy for being the most amazing second shooter and for getting that awesome pic of Jax and I doing yoga on the side of the dance floor! Epic my Lizzy, absolutely epic. Love you.
A special thank you needs to be said to our awesome bridesmaids and groomsmen. You guys have been a part of our lives since childhood and we couldn’t imagine doing life without you. Thank you for all your love and support during the wedding planning process, and for being total rock stars the day before and weekend of our wedding. SO blessed to have you stand alongside us! Thank you for everything.
A final thank you to our amazing parents who have raised us, guided us, supported us, and loved us through thick and thin. We are so incredibly blessed to have the foundations that the four of you have laid in our lives to grow our marriage on. For all your sacrifices, love and generosity, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Love you lots xxx
