Netherwood Wedding – Sarah + Shaun

It’s always a risky affair planning a wedding in the middle of summer in the KZN midlands, as December afternoons usually involve a big thunderstorm. On the morning of Sarah and Shaun’s Netherwood wedding, the air was thick  and heavy with an unbearable heat but just across the view huge cumulonimbus clouds gathered in a rather threatening manner. I expected the worst, a torrential downpour of massive proportions, but it never really happened. The enormous clouds only let down a gentle shower and only after the ceremony had happened. Most photographers really fear rain on a wedding day, and it certainly makes things challenging but on the flip side there is something quite magical about rainy wedding photos.

Sarah and Shaun have been together for a very long time and a bit of rain wasn’t going to dampen their spirits. They were so excited to celebrate their union with their family and friends and celebrate they did!

Thanks so much for picking me … Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness and health! Sarah you just have the most gorgeous smile and it was so special to see you beaming like that! I hope that you will always be able to look back at your photographs and rekindle the joy of your wedding day.

And now for the credits and a few words from the bride:

“Conventional” is not a word we would use to describe our wedding.  There were no set table places, three course menu or set agenda.  We wanted the freedom to enjoy the day and mingle with our friends and family as if we were guests at our own wedding.  We will always treasure the love, generosity, good wishes and lasting memories that our guests helped us create.
We decided on a cocktail type wedding with various different seating areas and a portable dining experience where waiters brought around trays of food with different nibbles to suit the different courses.  Our incredible wedding planner, Kate Bain understood our muddled ideas, and we can’t thank her enough for realising our dream wedding better than we could have imagined.  The amount of thought and detail that she put into making our dream a reality does not go unrecognized, and we cannot thank her enough!
To Jax and Tash, thank you for your wonderful talent and creative flair.  You captured the essence of our wedding and have created images that we will enjoy and cherish for a lifetime.  Looking through the photographs has helped us remember the moments we had either forgotten in the madness or missed.  You’re both awesome people that are very easy to work with and are passionate about your photography, and believe me it shows!  Thanks to you both for all your hard work; your photography is nothing short of amazing!
