Orchid House Wedding – Taryn + Warwick

Taryn and Warwick are both very driven professionals who have done exceptionally well in their respective studies and careers. Professionalism aside, the thing that struck me the most about these two, is that they both love to laugh and have fun together. I personally think this is so important in a relationship. Warwick in particular is a laugh a minute and seems to be able to make Taryn giggle at the drop of a hat! The two groosmen Matt 1 and Matt 2 are no different and I have to mention that it was Warwick who came up with the idea to photograph the two Matt’s in the laundromat! (Get it?)

They got married at the Orchid House of the Collisheen on what felt like one of the most humid day of 2013. We did their engagement shoot on what felt like the windiest day of the year so there seems to be a bit of a theme with extreme weather conditions!

Taryn and Warwick it has been such a pleasure to work with you and laugh with you. Wishing you so much love and luck for your marriage ahead!

And now for the credits and a few words from the bride ….

Wedding Co-ordinator: my super-talented mum organised everything for the wedding – she was absolutely incredible, making numerous trips between Ballito and Umhlanga (where she lives) to meet with service providers, source decor items, and meet with the venue in order to alleviate the pressure on me while I was studying again and working in Jozi. About two weeks before the wedding we needed to make some changes to table numbers and it only really sunk in then when I was trying to deal with our decor companies regarding table sizes while my mum was away on holiday that I realised how little I knew about the physical details behind the wedding itself!! She literally took care of everything and I can’t thank her enough!

Graphic Designer: I was also incredibly lucky to have a super-talented Graphic designer as a Mom-in-Law who designed, created and printed each and every stationery item from save the dates, to invites, to programmes, to menus, to table numbers, to seating charts and all the other signage at the wedding. It was so nice having such a personal touch to all of our design items and she knew exactly what we wanted without us having to even verbalise it (Claire Rosekilly: claire@rosekillycreative.co.za)

Venue: The Orchid House at Collisheen Estate – www.collisheen.co.za – again I must make special mention of Nicole (the wedding co-ordinator at the venue) who was absolutely brilliant and went out of her way to assist both leading up to and on the day of the wedding. She was also so calm and nothing was too much of a mission which really helped with the last minute items that tend to go wrong!

Decor: Michelle Mann – www.hirestandards.co.za ; Labola Event Management – www.labola.co.za

Flowers: Deidre Love 082 374 7574 – Deidre was so creative around our flower arrangements and they looked so beautiful – I couldn’t have asked for better!

A word of advice to any future brides is to make use of the incredibly talented and aptly-named “dream team” – Drew, Charelle and Jacki – these three were absolutely amazing both on the day and leading up to it and I felt 100% confident that I would look great on the day and in the photo’s in these three sets of capable hands!

Brides Dress: Gert van der Merwe gertvdm@netactive.co.za

Bridesmaids Dresses: Forever New Australia

Grooms Suit: Giovane Gentile Collection @ Messori, Sandton City

Cake: Kerry @ Lemon Canary http://www.lemoncanary.co.za; lemoncanarydesign@gmail.com – by far the best red velvet cupcakes we have ever tasted!

Music: DJ Dave 083 226 6871 – Dave was great, really got the party going and catered for all the age groups at the wedding 🙂

Videographer: Beyond Measure http://www.beyondmeasure.co.za – Cameron and Nathan were awesome! They were so chilled out and didn’t make us feel self-conscious in front of the camera at all (no mean feat for me as I usually hate being videoed). They also mastered the nicknames of both groomsmen (both called Matthew) – namely Scrummer and Duck – which everyone loved!

Priest: Reverend Rod Briggs – http://www.marriageofficersa.co.za. Rod had the unique ability to make you feel completely at ease with the proceedings – despite both of us feeling the emotions of the day and my nose refusing to stop running throughout the ceremony which prompted many “tissue breaks”. His service was awesome and completely tailored to our wants and needs, we loved every minute of it and can’t wait to watch it again on the video!

A huge thank you to all of our service providers, the day ran so smoothly and one cannot underestimate the importance of using the best! Jax, a special thanks to you, Tash and Liz – you guys were absolutely amazing and really made War and I feel completely at ease throughout the day. You guys worked tirelessly throughout the night and we both really appreciated all the effort you put into capturing the special moments at our big day – we cannot wait to see the end result. I have no doubt the photo’s will be incredible and we are both SO excited to see the “Matt’s in the laundromat” shot as well as the “swimwear edition” of the grooms/groomsmen which I hear was hilarious.

Our wedding made us realise how unique and special a day it is when you have all your friends and family in one place – an event that only happens once in your life. We really appreciate all the effort that was made by our Cape Town, Jozi, London, Oman and Australian friends and family who went to such lengths and expense to celebrate our wedding with us.
