Thanda Bush wedding – Paula + Grant

Paula and Grant may live in the UK, but their hearts remain in Africa. Like most people who are born here, they will always appreciate the wide open spaces, the feeling of sun on skin and the soulful pristine beauty that this continent has to offer. Over the years they have had many adventures in Africa together, most notibly a five month overland trip down West Africa to South Africa for the 2010 Soccer world cup. These two have experienced and done a lot as a couple, but their love for African travel is equally matched by their love for their family and friends.

It is therefore not surprising that they decided to haul their favourite folk off to the bush to get married under the African sky. They chose Thanda Private Game Reserve in Northern Natal to do just that. Thanda is no ordinary game reserve, the game viewing is on leagues of it’s own, so is the accommodation, service, food and smiles of all the staff who work there. It is First class with a capital F, but it doesn’t loose the rustic charm of an authentic safari experience. Most guests spent the weekend at Thanda and were just gushing about the incredible game drives, the starlit bush dinner and the whole Thanda experience. To top off all of that, the actual wedding was absolutely phenomenal and so full of spirit and emotion. I don’t think anyone will forget the wedding of Paula and Grant in a hurry! Certainly not me!

Thanks so much to both of you and your families for being such wonderful warm people to work with. I so appreciate you being so patient with me, I know you have been waiting a while for your pics! We had so much fun with you all and will never forget that herd of buffalos!

And now a few words from the bride

Our wedding day was an incredibly special day. To get married in such beautiful scenery under African skies surrounded by our closest friends and family was a dream come true for us! A special thank you to Lesley our wedding co-ordinator, Sue our florist and to all the staff at Thanda for giving us a ‘fairytale come real’.

To Jax and Liz, thank you for for capturing such beautiful moments across our day! Your energy on the day was most incredible and you both did not stop until you had captured every highlight! Thank you for giving us such beautiful visual memories to last a lifetime.

To end, a short excerpt from Grant’s speech which sums up our day beautifully….

‘I hear the drums echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation

All at once you look across a crowded room
To see the way the light attaches to a girl
She’s suddenly beautiful
She’s got heaven in her eyes

I was looking for someone to complete me
Not anymore dear

The dizzy dancing way you feel when every fairy tale comes real….’

    Dear Paula & Grant,

What a wonderful wedding. Many congratulations to you both and our very best wishes for many happy years together. As you live in the UK you must think about making a trip over to see us in France. Think about that; we would love to see you.

    Love from us,

It’s not quite a year since I met Thanda for the first time! I could never have believed how beatiful a memory it could make in my heart. But that is also due to everyone who took part who each rubbed off a bit of themselves to contribute. Thank you Grant and Paula for allowing us in to your special day. Thank you Jacki for recording it so beautifully.
