There is a famous Annie Liebovitz quote which says “A thing that you can see in these pictures is that I was not afraid to fall in love with these people” I wouldn’t be so bold as to ever put my work in the same league as Annie but I am going to steal her quote for this wedding story! I have found that I produce better work when I get to know my clients and when I first met Sandile and Nadja it felt like we had already known each other for lifetimes.
Sandile is South African Zulu and Nadja is German, they met in Africa, fell in love, fell pregnant, merged stories, cultures, families and lives. Years later they made it official and brought Nadja’s closest family and friends from abroad and got married under the African sky in two ceremonies. The first “white wedding” happened at The Orchards up in the KZN Midlands and the second traditional Zulu wedding happened in Eshowe a couple of days later. I have witnessed alot of weddings in my time and I can safely say that this one was one of the most joyful I have been to. Sandile and Nadja’s love for each other is only matched by the love they have for their children and the love and respect their kids give them back. They are an inspiration to watch and a pleasure to be around!

Thank you so much for picking me to capture these memories for you! I have loved every minute of our journey together!
And now a few words from the bride:
If someone told me about our Spring Day 2017 a couple of years ago I would have called that person mad. Me being far away in another part of the world and being so far away from having my own family or getting married. However, if someone asked me how I picture my wedding one day I would have described a day being exactly how our Spring Day 2017 was. Actually it turned out to be much more than what I would have ever pictured my wedding to be like. To marry the most amazing “full-package” kind of man that I am privileged to call my soulmate in the most romantic setting provided by the Orchards and surrounded by the funniest, most loving, craziest and endlessly supportive crowd that is our family and friends from all over the world leaves me with the realisation that I really hit the jackpot. I am so grateful!
Besides that, we were absolutely blessed with the most amazing team of service providers that contributed so much to our excitement along the way. Each of them carried a piece of the puzzle. Our puzzle. To see the puzzle being put together on the day makes us run out of words. Jo, thank you so much for guiding me in the whole pre-wedding process and for giving me a lot of inspiration and the constant feeling that everything is possible. Jen, thank you for being the awesome you and for sweeping our guests off their feet with your super special cake and food. Ensuring that our guests never get hungry was one of our priorities and you so made it happen. Far more than that, they felt like experiencing a permanent feast. Jacki and Liz!!!! Thank you for being second to none in all that you are: Your creativity, professionalism and calming yet energizing spirits. We feel very honoured to have had you capture our magic. Last but not least, a special thank you goes to Dane and his wonderful wife Abi. It was the biggest fun to work with you guys and we are looking forward to seeing your audio-visual magic.
Oh wow!! We did it and are so excited to be now Mr. and Mrs. Mbatha!!!
