Clarens Farmyard wedding at St Fort – Ronel + Jannie

When Ronel first approached me about photographing their wedding at St Fort in Clarens she said “I love music and I love playing the piano. In Ireland last year I couldn’t travel with the piano so I bought myself a violin and taught myself to play;  my Irish roommate and I are still friends, so I  couldn’t have been that bad. I also like painting, drinking wine, growing a veggie garden and sleeping after a nightshift!” I knew then that she was my kind of bride! I also knew that the wedding would be a cracker as Clarens is just such a gorgeous place to shoot.

You may recognise Ronel’s other half Jannie Du Plessis. Jannie is a well known Springbok rugby player who currently plays for the Natal Sharks. At a glance I would have never put this arty girl together with a rugby player but they actually have so much in common. Both of them are doctors, both of them come from farming backgrounds and have a deep connection with the earth and nature, both of them are very family orientated and both of them are extremely friendly, funny and fun loving. On their wedding invites they wrote “Ons trou want ons is absoluut mal oor mekaar”, for those of you who don’t understand Afrikaans this means “We are getting married as we are absolutely mad about each other”. And that pretty much sums it all up!

Thanks guys for picking me. We loved our time with you!

Obviously the Clarens countryside added a great deal but you have outdone yourself here, Jacqui. Your pictures capture so much more than just the wedding; there is family here, love, blessing, youth, the glitterati in sport, the beauty of the landscape, the dignity of older people gracing such a special occasion, the coming together of two families, the charm of the village and donkeys, the hard work of so many people, light in darkness, rain in sunshine – you name it, Jackie Bruniquel has captured it here. It makes me proud of be a South African when I look at the pictures of this wedding. Thank you.

Wow! !!!!! Stunning foto’s.

Jacki , you are indeed a most talented photographer ! with such a beautifull wedding venue – St Fort , on the foot of the mountains , with breathtaking scenery – it is not difficult to make every wedding a most extaordinary event , but you managed to capture the beauty , the special moments , the excitement , the happiness of the day and wondeful memories ! As Brenda said , the unique little town , Clarens , and the beauty of the landscape at St Fort , is every bride’s dream , but it needs a photographer like you to be able to remember……

You take breathtaking photots… Such a lasting momento of an obviously special day! These photos made my heart ache, as I was born in the Eastern Freestate. and spent a lot of my growing up years there. Having now lived in KZN for 20-odd years, I don’t get the chance to go back very often. When I saw this was tagged with “CLARENS” I had to look… Almost makes me tear up thinking about the unique beauty in that part of our country. You did it justice! =]

These are the most unique photo’s I have ever seen. You captured emotions like the bride’s serenity, Rose (one of the flower girls ) total involvement with every nuance of the wedding, the love, fathers pride and joy of everybody. The beauty of the eastern Freestate and quaintness of Clarence the rain and rainbow brings tears to your eyes. Thank you for capturing the beautiful memories and hard work in idillic photos.
