There is something really special about an intimate wedding with a small guest list, and even more special when most of the guests have flown in from all over the world. Bianca and Elliott live in the UK but Bianca’s roots are in South Africa so they decided on a destination wedding. They got married on a sunny autumn day in Durban by the pool at Zimbali lodge. They chose this venue because of it’s tropical feel which is so very different to anything you would find in England, and guests spent most of the week with them which meant their celebrations were extended into a lovely holiday with their nearest and dearest. Through all of our correspondence it was very clear to me that Bianca is a romantic soul with a penchant for all things pretty, and her wedding was exactly how I imagined it would be. There were lots of flowers, sparkles and long flowy dresses and these elements were made all the more lovely by the warmth and love that flowed freely between the wedding guests and Bianca and Elliott themselves.
Huge thanks to the two of you for being so fabulous to work with. It was a real treat to get to know you all and I wish you many happy days ahead.
And now for a few words from the bride ……
WOW…what an incredible day we had! We chose Durban as our wedding destination to be closer to my gran, who is 89 and still managed to party the night away with us! The other reason was so we could have an intimate wedding with all our closest friends and family, who made the incredible effort of joining us from the UK, America and Australia. What really stood out for us was how well everyone got along, and it really made it an amazing day having everyone with us to celebrate (a lot of them were with us for the whole week!). So thank you again to all our favourite people in the whole world…you really did make it a day to remember! We wanted the beautiful South African venue to be a huge focus in our theme, but with a little added sparkle to make it ours. I pinterested (not sure if that’s become a word yet) every little detail, and my poor vendors had to troll through board after board haha…but the final product of what was created was far more spectacular than I could have ever imagined!
When planning a wedding from abroad there is so much to do from afar, and I really had to put a lot of trust in the incredible teams that pulled everything together for us. Luckily for us, Carolyn McNeil, aka ‘Wedding Angel of the South’, chose an exceptional team of vendors that were a vital part in creating this amazing day for us. From the very amusing marriage officer AJ, to the talented wedding DJ, Dave Ward (who basically chose all the important songs off a list I gave him), to the fabulous make-up artist Lindsay who made my already beautiful bridesmaids look like Victoria Secret models! And finally a massive thank you to the very talented and oh so wonderful Jacki Bruniquel! Thank you
for being there on our day, and for just being so wonderful that it felt like you were an important part of our wedding party! And also thanks to you, me and the girls will forever be rolling our shoulders forward and sticking our chins out!
