Fly fishing themed Drakensberg Wedding – Monique + Craig

When Monique first mailed me and told me that her and Craig were going to have a fly fishing themed wedding in the Drakensberg, my creative spirit was instantly tickled. Then she mentioned a 4pm service, going up the mountain on horses, coming down the mountain on a tractor and a reception arrival by boat. It was at this point that a little voice in my head said…. “is she crazy, she is getting married in the Berg in the afternoon in early summer which is pretty much when it thunder showers every day?”I am always up for a challenge though, and  love shooting weddings with some gutzpa. I also had the inside track that Monique had been to see an astrologer to find out the exact time for their nuptials!

We arrived to a very damp Sani Valley the day before the wedding and the first thing that struck me was the wonderful sense of community and spirit between all the guests at the wedding. Everyone seemed to be involved in some way or another to make the wedding happen.

Wedding day arrived, the sun came out, beautiful clouds painted the sky, the light glittered and everyone beamed. Monique, Craig and every guest just exuded happiness. A truly perfect wedding day for a couple matched by the stars!

    Hi Jacki!

Gorgeous photos, as usual!!! I am intrigued as to why the photo from this wedding that you won a Fearless Award for isn’t in this post? And I’d love to know the story behind it – hilarious!!!
