Wedding in Goa / India – Shane + Laurie

I don’t even know where to start here. How do I even BEGIN to explain what a dream it was to photograph a wedding in India? Let alone the wedding of two of the most free spirited special souls I know. No matter how hard I try, my words just cannot sufficiently encapsulate the feelings which I hold when thinking back to this magical time.

India is a photographers heaven. One virtually has to point a camera and click and out comes a great photo. Besides the exoticness and the excitement of a wedding abroad, the simple fact is, it’s not the venue that makes a wedding. It’s the people. Laurie and Shane are such a beautiful couple who have followed their dreams, traveled and lived all over the world, they give the best hugs and spread laughter and love wherever they go. Everyone that came to their wedding loved them enough to trek across the world for them. Can you imagine the atmosphere? Can you imagine the love?

In a nutshell they got married on a beach in Goa and had their reception at Dreamcatchers Resort in Palolem with their closest friends and family. But there was just so much more then that …….. and here are the pictures I took. Thanks guys for picking me. I am still speechless. Love you both dearly.

And now for all the credits in the Brides own words …

In Shane and Laurie style, we really only planned the whole wedding and reception about 4 days before the big day!

For a long time, all we knew was that we wanted to get married in India, on the beach.  Nothing fancy, just natural.  India is so beautiful as it is, that we didn’t feel we needed to add anything more.  Just friends and family and a big celebration of life!

We got that and so much more…

First we wish to Thank Walter and Jackie Fernandes – owners of Dreamcatchers Resort in Palolem Beach, South Goa. They were the ones who organised the ceremony on the beach and the festivities at their resort.  Everything from the tuk-tuks to the blue enfield, to beautiful flowers, cold drinks, tasty food, good service and gorgeous decor. It was ALL arranged by them. They gave us so much more than we even dreamed We will forever be grateful, for that most incredible day in our lives.

We also wish to extend a huge thank you to all the staff at Dreamcatchers – from the waitors, to the cleaning ladies, to the security guys and to reception.  Their hard work did not go unnoticed and their always present smiles, were inspiring.  They not only, made our wedding day happen so smoothly, but also ensured that staying there was the most enjoyable and relaxing holiday that we and our family and friends could have hoped for.

Next, we wish to Thank our friends and family for making the trip and daring to explore a country they might not have otherwise ventured. To Guy Neville and my sister, Debbie Wilson (Best Man and Maid of Honour), for playing such a big part in bringing such laughter and love to the whole holiday (not just the day) and for ensuring that the big day, was perfect Shane and Laurie style. Colin Ashton – Thank You for playing MC and ensuring everything went according to “schedule”

Big love and thanks to Tony van der Linde (Uncle Anto) for conducting the ceremony with such amazing words, they where truly heartfelt

We also met three wonderful people whilst there, who we invited to share our day with us.  What a gift…  Thank You Andy Quick (for playing us our song and for livening the dancing with your guitar).  Note:  Check out his band through facebook, called Land of the Giants…  His lovely lady Kate Moss, who bought her energy and smiles and our Dreamcatchers neighbour Shivali, who covered our hut in flowers and hearts, the night before the wedding.

Having you all there to share that day with us, was so special.  We are certainly blessed.

For my dress, I wish to Thank Augustine Choy – a private dress maker in Hong Kong.  You got it perfect!!  Thank You EMAIL:

My hair on the day was done by the gentleman of one of my best friends and bridesmaids.  Michel Martin – you’re a star!! Him and his brother own a salon in Linksfield, Johannesburg – called Sandro Hairdressing TEL:  +27 11 4432167

My good friend Nicole McWilliams, did our make-up.  Thank You honey

The spa at Dreamcatchers is great and the lovely ladies pampered my mom and I with manicures and pedicures, the morning of the wedding.

Shane had his outfit and the funky, blue lungis for the boys, made by one of the local tailors in Patnem.  What a good job and so fast!  Thank You

Our local friend, Matthew and his wife Rina.  Thank You for doing all the airport pick-ups and drop offs, safely bringing our guests to the venue.  Also for arranging the scooters for everyone to explore with and get to the beach for the big day.  You are both wonderful and we wish you happiness.

Thanks to Tash Schoeman for second shooting and for her constant smile and laughter.

Also and very importantly – to you Jax!!!  You’re an amazing women, special friend and incredible photographer. We are so thrilled that you were able to enjoy and share it with us as our friend too and not just as our photographer. We love you

Lastly, but not leastly – we wish to Thank Goa.  Just for being you.
