Michelle is not the type of girl that spent her days dreaming of a white wedding, in fact one of her favourite flicks is Runaway Bride, and the thought of being the centre of attention in a poofy white wedding dress made her tummy churn. She wasn’t afraid of commitment though. Nope, she had been with Julian for over a decade, moved continents and had two beautiful children with him, she just wasn’t very keen on a wedding! And so when they decided it was high time to get married they did it in their own way. They started by inviting only their nearest and dearest to celebrate with them over a weekend at Nambithi Hills Private Game Reserve which is near Newcastle in KZN. Even this location was carefully considered as both of them love the bush and have found it to be a safe-haven when things have got tough in their lives. They wanted the day to unfold in the most relaxed way possible and the idea was that their wedding reception would feel like a lovely long dinner party with their favourites. The decor was anything but formal and they only followed the typical wedding traditions that suited them.
When it came to photography they were adamant that they didn’t want boring, traditional pictures and urged me to tap into my creative spirit and have fun while still making sure I captured all the special moments. Weddings like these always remind me how lucky I am to do a job that allows me to meet such wonderful people and work in such spectacular places! Thanks Michelle and Julian for picking me. We so enjoyed being part of your special day, thanks also for being so patient with us.
And now, some words from the bride:
Jules and I have actually been together for 12 years and decided 12 years was long enough for a trial period! Lol! We both wanted our wedding to be a celebration of our love with our friends and family who have been on our journey with us. The day was relaxed and chilled with a house party vibe and rustic boho style.
We are both deeply grateful to our service providers for listening and helping to bring our quirky thoughts and ideas to life. Thank you so so much, we are truly grateful. We had such an amazing day.
