Winter Netherwood Wedding – Chantel + Brett

It was very clear to me when I met Chantel’s Mom, Linda, that she adored Brett and was so excited for her daughter to marry him. The love that exists between Chantel and Brett is a beautiful one and Linda definitely appreciated that.

When I arrived at their family farm for their engagement shoot I could feel the wedding excitement in the air!! Everyone in the family seemed to get involved in the build up to the big day. Chantel’s sister Krystle and her boyfriend Weyland were kicking up a DIY storm. Wood was being cut, menus were being planned and wedding stationary was being printed. I knew then that it would be a special personal wedding filled with love.  These were people who clearly adored each other and were prepared to go the extra mile to bring each other happiness.

One never knows what’s around the corner in life and unfortunately Linda was ill and didn’t make it to the wedding.

Neither of Chantel’s parents did. Chantel’s Dad passed away some time back and she lost her Mom Linda, to cancer just a couple of weeks before the big day. Because of this, I thought the wedding might be a sad day. Yes there were times where there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, but for the most part, the most tangible emotion expressed was love.

I am sure that Linda would want her kids to live every day to the fullest and I know she would have never wanted her passing to stop the wedding.

Chantel and Brett’s chose to look toward the light and hold each other in love on their wedding day. Their strength and grace is truly inspirational and I do believe this might have been one of the most moving weddings I have ever shot.

They got married in the Natal Midlands at Netherwood on a crisp winters day and the light was just perfect. It was almost as if Chantel’s parents were shining down on them. One thing is for sure, there was a lot of love being directed at them and this isn’t surprising considering their beautiful spirits.

Thanks for picking me Chantel and Brett .We so enjoyed working with the two of you, your friends and your families.
