Are you feeling like you are stuck in a rut when it comes to your photography?
Feel afraid to push your own boundaries and try new things?
Do you find yourself blindly following trends for the sake of it?
Are you struggling with the immensity of maintaining creativity whilst running your own business?
Are you terrified of putting your prices up, meaning that you are taking on so much work that you don’t have a moment for yourself or your family?
Do you feel like your work sucks and that this is causing you to feel inadequate?
Are you terrified of shooting in tricky lighting situations and messy rooms?
Does your flash give you anxiety? Are you feeling burnt out?
If you found yourself nodding along whilst reading this, don’t worry I know how you feel.
I have been there before and I want to help you to get out of this and am running a 1 day workshop in Joburg on the 10th of October and in Cape Town on the 1st of November 2017. The Joburg workshop was 90% sold out in a day but there is one place left due to someone being unable to make it. The Cape Town workshop was 50% sold out before advertising as folk were already on a wait list.
There are loads of workshops available where you can learn to shoot like someone else or where you can learn to photograph a styled wedding table and pretty models.
My workshop will not be like that.
I’ll help you unlock your own vision so that you can make pictures about how YOU see the world. You’ll walk away from my workshop feeling that you’re in touch with your own creative power. I’ll show you a few awesome tricks and techniques that will help you overcome your fear surrounding your work, tricky lighting situations and creativity in general.
The aim of this workshop is to give you a huge dollop of inspiration and confidence so that you can be a better photographer and charge higher rates like I do.
Learn to take your images from drab to fab!
I’ve been a full-time photographer for over 10 years. I’ve shot hundreds of weddings and portrait sessions for all sorts of people, in all sorts of places, and I love the fact that I get to meet people, be creative with my camera and get paid for it!
Turning 40 meant that I started questioning my life and I realized that I wanted something else from my career. Over the past few years, I have been lucky enough to receive a lot of accolades, which has meant I have been invited to speak at various talks and conferences.
Before I became a full-time photographer I used to run art classes. I taught art workshops all over South Africa, I taught photography at Durban Tech for a stint, and my Mom says that playing “Schools” was my favorite game when I was little!
I really enjoy teaching people and seeing that light bulb go off in their eyes. I love to see people living up to their full potential and make money from their creativity. It is an amazing thing to be able to inspire people to be the best version of themselves.
I like to make people happy.
Although I spent 6 years studying Fine Art and Photography, and I also spent quite some time assisting photographers, I have only recently attended my first photography workshop and that meant I learnt a lot of things the hard way by having skin in the game! In case you are wondering I went all the way to Spain last year to attend the Two Mann workshop
Experience has been my biggest teacher but it’s also given me a few punches here and there!
I landed up in hospital with adrenal burnout at one point! I’ve been in dark spaces where I hated my job and wanted to quit.
I’ve felt uninspired and totally over my camera. Through perseverance and drawing on my training as a Fine Artist I have always pushed through the blocks and I feel more fired up now than ever!
Creativity takes courage and it takes work!
I really do believe in that saying “If you keep doing what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten” If you are feeling uninspired, inadequate, burnt out, stuck or afraid this could be the workshop for you! Let me help you help yourself!
Enough rambling here are the details …………

Here are a few testimonials from a few awesome photographers who have heard me teach
Thabang Radebe
“Firstly I’d like to say… I love Jacki because her work is amazing, she’s approachable and is very real.
I heard her give a talk for the first time at the Admired in Africa workshop. She was the reason I went, and she was amazing. She didn’t disappoint.
She gave us a background on who she is which made us relate to her more. She covered valid points and made me realise that to me, photography
is not a hobby anymore but a business. A business that should take care of me especially because I’m doing it full time now. I don’t feel bad for charging
what I charge anymore… as a matter of fact I actually feel bad because I feel like I’m under charging. Lol!
Our practical session with her was so useful. She covered something that some of us photographers freak out when we see which a messy dark room,
with minimal window light coming in. Well for me personally anyway because I’m not big on strobes and speed-lites. She showed me how to open up
my mind and think out of the box in a creative way. I’ll be carrying a small bag of magic tricks soon. *winks*
I’m not big on workshops but I’m looking forward to her next one. I’ll be sitting in the front row that’s for sure.
She’s my wedding photography role model, I know it sounds soppy but I don’t care. I’m just being honest. For me, it’s not just about the work but also about the personality.
Thank you for being such an inspiration Jacki.”
Estefania Romero
“Jacki has been one of my favourite photographers in South Africa for a while. Her eye for creativity and art is on a different level. She is able to read light and create stunning images out of ordinary moments. Being able to hear Jacki talk about her photography and share her knowledge was very enriching. She was so authentic and upfront. I had notebook and pen handy but got so into her talk that I decided to soak everything she had to say instead of writing notes. I remember her advise, her keywords and her passion, all which is a perfect combination to inspire me and make me work harder every time. She’s a true visual creator with a free soul, a genuine heart with an amazing artistic mind.”
Judith Belle
“I’ve always admired Jacki’s ability to capture raw emotion and often think to myself she’s captured another impossible moment perfectly in a split second. Jacki’s passion and insight about her craft is inspiring and enough to get any photographer bright eyed and excited about looking out for that right moment in the perfect light”
I always look forward to Jacki’s talks to give me that kick to keep on working and building my own style”
Landi Groenewald
“When I first saw Jacki’s photo art, I was not only inspired but excited; excited for the possibilities that photographic art can paint. As creatives in an over saturated industry it is so easy to fall in to the same nuances and themes as your counterparts. Jacki, however teaches photographers to climb out of that box. Jacki has inspired me to search and explore my own creativity. What I have learned from her has formed a valuable cornerstone on which I am building my experiences – finding unusual angles, searching for light sources that are so easily overlooked and to find the beauty in shadows and reflections. Jacki inspired me to stay inspired.”
